You will learn how to build flowcharts and phase diagrams using stencils, shapes, connectors and themes; create navigable documents using background pages and off-page references; create custom shapes and stencils with shape data; use containers; build cross functional flowcharts with swimlanes and phases; create organisation charts manually and from Excel; add hyperlinks; and export your completed pack to PDF.
What will I create during the Visio course?
You will build an eight page, fully navigable Annual Report Preparation process pack. Each Visio skill is taught in the context of a page you are constructing, so you finish the course with a completed, reusable artefact rather than a collection of separate practice drawings.

What version of Microsoft Visio do I need for this course?
This course requires Visio Plan 2 with the desktop app installed. Custom stencils, the Organisation Chart Wizard, Data Visualizer and full container behaviour used during the course are not available in Plan 1 or Visio for the web. Visio desktop runs on Windows only.
Does this Visio course cover process mapping and flowcharts?

Will I learn how to create organisation charts in Visio?
Yes. You will build an organisation chart by hand and use the Organisation Chart Wizard to generate an organisation chart from an Excel workbook. You will also learn how to move the generated chart into your process pack and work with its layout.

Will I learn how to create custom Visio shapes and stencils?
Yes. You will learn how to build a master shape using grouping, define shape data fields, create and save a custom stencil, save it to My Shapes and reopen it for future use.
Can I create a multi-page, navigable document in Visio?
Yes. The course covers background pages, page fields, off-page references, linked page pairs, page management and hyperlinks so you can connect individual diagrams into a navigable process pack.
Can I export my Visio process pack to PDF?
Yes. You will learn how to prepare the pack for publishing, manage page size, paper size and drawing scale, and export the finished document to PDF. The course also covers testing the exported PDF, including its links and navigation, before distribution.

This could include audit cycles, onboarding programmes, grants rounds and other business processes involving multiple stages, teams or handovers.
