How to Succeed With That One Thing

February 13, 2018

Success in any form is highly rewarding but there are better ways to get it than others. Find out how you can achieve greater success and less stress with our three simple steps below.

Avoiding Distractions

Perfect can often be a hindrance to success. In order to achieve success that does not mean that you have to constantly concern yourself with avoiding distractions every minute of every day. The perfect, uninterrupted day is impossible.

However, what is important is figuring out what matters most to you, or what activity will yield the biggest result and then commit to just doing that one thing, eliminating distractions.

One way that you can do this is by blocking out specific time periods in your calendar to do your most important work. When you’re doing that one activity, that’s when it’s important to avoid distractions at all costs.

It’s like going to the movies, you’re only there for ONE Thing – to watch the movie. Because you’re so clear about that, you turn off your cell phone, you grab snacks in case you get hungry, and you probably even make a toilet run before you go in. You prepare yourself to have an uninterrupted experience.

Time block your most important work like you time block going to the movies and you’ll be well on your way to avoiding distractions and achieving more.

Prioritising & Staying Focused

Based on the goals in any area of your life, ask yourself one question “What’s the ONE thing I could do that would make everything else easier or unnecessary?”

Then time block it to make it happen.  It doesn’t have to be any more complicated than that.

Deciding on your one thing

Usually when people ask themselves "what’s the one thing they could do right now that  would make everything else in life easier", they find it difficult to answer. It's about taking small steps.

“Success is sequential and not simultaneous”.  In order to achieve success you need to tackle just one project at a time. It doesn’t have to be the only thing you do, it just has to be ONE thing right now that you focus on to move you closer to your goal.
